Thatcham is working with insurers and manufacturers to rate the security of every model of van on a 10-star New Vehicles Security Ratings scale.

Researchers will be carrying out hundreds of tests to find out how easily each van can be broken into and stolen, with the aim of improving LCV security, which falls short of car standards.

Thatcham is expected to announce the ratings in June next year.
