A COMPANY responsible for providing services to the emergency, public services and utilities sectors in Great Britain and Northern Ireland has awarded a £4 million roadside recovery contract to the RAC.

AssetCo Group, which also designs, builds, supplies and manages a fleet of up to 12,000 specialist vehicles and equipment for clients such as London Fire Authority, Metropolitan Police Service, Northern Ireland Electricity and Scotia Gas Networks, says the two-year contract is for UK and European roadside assistance.

The contract comes seven months after the company was bought out by the new board of directors.

As part of the deal, breakdown and recovery services will be provided by the RAC for AssetCo’s non-emergency clients.

Damian Murphy, senior commercial manager at AssetCo Group, said: ‘Our role is to ensure the smooth and cost-effective running of our client operations. They operate year-round, the length and breadth of the country in environments from the Highlands of Scotland to London’s West End.’
