Supermarket chain Asda has cut the prices of petrol price to less than £1 per litre.

It is from tomorrow selling unleaded petrol for 99.9p/litre on and 110.9p/litre for diesel at its 170 filling stations.

It is the first retailer to drop petrol prices below £1 per litre this year and it is the first time the cost has fallen below this important psychological mark since December.

On average, the 99.9p price means a customer is paying around £10 less for a tank of fuel than they did in July when petrol prices were at a 2008 high of 117.9p.
