A major £6.1 million (€7.3m) project aimed at reducing the environmental impact of transport throughout northwest Europe has been launched.

Focusing on alternatives to private car use, the Bridging Mobility Gaps: Improving Connectivity and Mobility Access initiative has brought together experts from several of Europe’s universities.

The three-year EU-funded project will aim to deliver a range of accessible, cost effective and sustainable transport choices, with particular focus given to door-to-door public or private transport to allow people to complete the first and final miles of their journey without using a car.
