Chevrolet will take the wraps off two new models in Paris which will be on UK roads within two years.

The Cruze (pictured) is a saloon which will be powered by a choice of 1.6 or 1.8-litre petrol engines, or a 2.0-litre common rail turbodiesel.

Chevrolet says the Cruze is the first of a new wave of global cars, rather than rebadging older models.

Also on display is the Volt, a production-ready electric vehicle which is fitted with a petrol engine which acts as a generator when the battery is low.

The Volt can travel for up to 40 miles on battery power.

Production of the four-door saloon is scheduled to begin in 2010.
