Company Car in Action, the test-drive event dedicated to fleet decision-makers, is helping the industry drive down costs and emissions with a major environmental initiative.

The unique event, now called The Greener Company Car in Action, has always been a showcase of key fleet vehicles, but this year it is focussing on lower emission vehicles.

Visitors to the event, which takes place on June 16,17 and 18, will still be able to drive the full model range of manufacturers attending the show, but there will be an emphasis on lower emission vehicles in each segment, particularly models producing 160g/km or less.

Fleets are being encouraged to focus their buying power on vehicles emitting 160g/km or less through major tax changes which come into force in April.

The Greener Company Car in Action will also include a range of displays and advice areas to help fleets lower their running costs and reduce their emissions.

Among the planned areas will be green consultancy, eco-driving demonstrations and an electric vehicle zone.

Chris Lester, event director at Fleet News, said: “Company Car in Action is already a unique opportunity for the industry. Now it’s helping the industry lead the environmental debate with this significant change.

“We are reflecting the needs of fleet decision-makers and ensuring that The Greener Company Car in Action remains a must-attend date in their calendars.

"By making this change, we are helping the industry and fleets work together to keep costs low and reduce emissions, which are both critical issues going forward.

“At the same time, we are retaining the traditional values that make this event such a success, helping company executives with responsibility for vehicles to understand what each model offers so they can provide expert feedback to their drivers.

"It will also enable them to make confident decisions about vehicle choice lists.”

What some of last year's attendees had to say about CCIA.

"It helps me in the decision-making because you can test drive so many cars under one roof, rather than going to different dealers or ringing up the manufacturer and getting them to deliver one to your factory.

"You can come here and – within reason – you can test-drive what they’ve got. For that I’d give it full compliments. There’s no other event like it.' COLIN NORRIS, Fleet director, Bike Shine, Impington

'The BMW Z4 was superb – a smooth drive, quick, really good. Good cornering, very responsive – and just great going round the Alpine track.

It’s been a terrific day and fleet managers are very knowledgeable to come to CCIA because you can try everything – this event has got such a mixture of cars and vans, it’s a great day out for a fleet manager.' GRAHAM PITTAWAY, Fleet manager, Barclays Group

'I’ve been very impressed – this is a good opportunity to view a lot of high-spec vehicles in one place without having to trawl around lots of different places.' ALISON PEERS, M2M business manager, Orange
