Risk management, driver training, grey and green fleets, and the opportunity to speak to suppliers are the main reasons for attending the Fleet News Forum, according to a straw poll of attendees.

This year’s event is fast approaching and offers a unique blend of one-to-one meetings and workshops for fleet decision makers and suppliers.

However, the opportunity to network with fleet industry colleagues and share best practice are also key considerations to attending the forum at Oulton Hall, near Leeds, on 16, 17 and 18 February.

And it could not have come at a better time for Steve Critchley, circulation director at NWN Media Ltd.

“I am doing a complete review of our fleet operation and I will want to speak to suppliers about contract hire, as well as a range of other issues from tyres to fuel,” said Mr Critchley.

“I’ve been doing a lot of work already, but I will be going with an open mind to see what’s there and what’s available.”

As a guest at the Fleet News Forum, people can expect to meet between 8-12 suppliers of their choosing, who offer the most benefit to their business.

It attracts suppliers from driver training and fleet technology to contract hire and leasing, as well as providing a series of workshops to compliment its one-to-one meetings.

For one of Britain’s biggest fleet managers, with in excess of 200,000 vehicles, Lt Col Martin Faulkner from the Royal Logistics Core is looking to the forum to help develop his understanding of the civilian fleet industry.

“This is important since I have a policy responsibility for one of the largest overall fleets in the country and need to develop best practice across the board,” said Lt Col Faulkner.

Julian Daley, reward manager for Carlsberg UK, added: “One of the main things for me from the forum will be to see what is happening in the market place, what’s new and what innovations there are.

“It’s about sharing best practice, seeing what other people are doing and speaking to suppliers.”
