Nissan has launched a recovery truck version of the Cabstar.

Capable of carrying vehicles as large as the Nissan Pathfinder, the special UK conversion has a body weight of just 390kg and offers a payload of up to 2,336kg.

With a gross vehicle weight of 4.5 tonnes, the new Cabstar has a towing weight of 8,000kg.

Other features include side body guards and marker lights, a flybridge with optional light bar and self-levelling air suspension at the rear.

Further options include an electric 7.5-tonne winch to take the hard graft out of loading and unloading.

Power is provided either by Nissan’s 2.5 dCi diesel unit in 130bhp format, or the 3.0-litre unit with 150bhp.

The larger engine is offered with the option of automatic six-speed manual transmission.

Safety features include standard ABS brakes with EBD and a driver’s airbag.

A passenger airbag is optional.

The range also includes a double-cab version.

Prices are from £26,900 for the 2.5 dCi 130 LWB 45:13 Pro + chassis-cab and from £27,500 for the 3.0 dCi 150 LWB 45:15 Pro + chassis-cab (ex-VAT).
