The former editor of leading industry title Fleet News, John Maslen, has been appointed as brand director of Sewells Research & Information to spearhead the development of the automotive research business.

Sewells Information & Research has been acknowledged as the pre-eminent source of motor industry knowledge for more than 40 years.

Its wide product range includes in-depth industry reports and bespoke research is designed to guide decision-making among senior managers in the automotive industry.

Maslen has worked extensively in both the fleet and dealer sectors, with roles including the editorship of Fleet News, development of the FN50 Survey into Britain’s leading leasing companies and more recently working as content director of Bauer's Business Media Events Division covering both Fleet News and AM.

He will be joined by researcher Sarah Tooze, who moves from her current role as research and supplements writer on Fleet News, while Fleet News account director Jacqui Barker will lead the sales operation.

The team will drive a series of new product launches from the Sewells brand focused on the fleet and dealer sectors, whilst continuing to develop the current portfolio of research, reports, industry databases and best practice guides.

Maslen said: "The Sewells Information & Research brand has a rich heritage in the automotive industry and I am delighted to be a part of its future development.

"In such a challenging economy, where there is constant change, there is a great need for insightful research and information that can ensure businesses make the best decisions for the future. Sewells is perfectly equipped to meet that need."

Ian Richardson, general manager of Bauer’s automotive B2B division, the parent company of Sewells Information & Research, added: "Sewells is one of the most respected brands in the automotive sector.

"The addition of John Maslen, Sarah Tooze and Jacqui Barker provides Sewells with some of the most knowledgeable, creative and well connected professionals the automotive sector has to offer, to help drive the business forward to the benefit of its customers."
