Jim Lawrie, who moved last month from Manheim to Scottish Motor Auctions (SMA), is looking to bring in new business and developing existing relationships on the back of providing a “personal service”.

The key account director spent 10 years at Manheim, mostly developing the dealer side of the business. He changed jobs, he says, because Manheim was becoming “too process orientated”.

Lawrie said: “At SMA the issues are resolved quickly because there are no layers of management – it’s back to the core values of talking to and listening to customers.

“My focus now is to squeeze more out of SMA. There’s a niche to fill where the focus is personal service – that’s what prospective customers are telling me.”
