Van fleet managers are being offered the chance to shape a new Government-backed programme which aims to offer advice, benchmarking and software in a bid to make LCV fleets more efficient.

The Van Best Practice Programme, funded by the Department for Transport, is aiming to improve the environmental, safety and operational performance of van users.

It will operate as part of the Government’s Carbon Reduction Strategy, which aims to reduce the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050.

The programme’s pilot scheme was launched in August 2008 in consultation with 12 fleet managers, and this has shaped the version which is due to be launched in November through a new website – www.vanbestpractice.org.uk.

Fleets wanting to find out more information on the Van Best Practice Programme can email info@vanbestpractice.org.uk or call the hotline on 0300 123 1133 (which will be operational from November).

Further details of The Van Best Practice Programme are available in Fleet News, October 8.
