Avis has launched an Eco Collection range of cars that are guaranteed to have emissions below 120g/km.

The service is already available to small and medium-sized businesses who use Avis Business.

For larger corporate accounts, the Eco Collection can be included as part of any contract negotiations or reviews.

The Eco Collection is available from 21 Avis locations and means renters are guaranteed a sub-120g/km diesel Volkswagen Golf.

Avis said it will offset the emissions for every Avis Eco car rental for December 2009 and January 2010 and match pound-for-pound the total amount offset by its customers across the entire fleet during this period.

Currently it has 250 Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDIs available in the range.

Should the collection prove to be a success, Avis will offer more models in this group.
