Ford has backed a major initiative to support fleet decision-makers and their businesses through tough economic times by signing up to The Greener Company Car in Action.

The Greener Company Car in Action is the test drive event dedicated to fleet decision-makers, which will help the industry drive down costs and emissions through effective vehicle choices.

The unique test drive event, which has been running for more than 20 years at Millbrook Proving Ground, Bedfordshire, is reflecting the changing demands of fleet operators by including a focus on low-emission vehicles.

Kevin Griffin, Ford fleet operations director, said: “Our support of the fleet industry has spanned decades and it has shown that we are a committed partner that will help decision-makers whatever the market conditions.

“Our participation in The Greener Company Car in Action is a further sign of our core role in supporting this industry and working together with fleets to ensure they are operating as effectively and efficiently as possible.”

Ford will be bringing its full range along to the event, including the Fiesta ECOnetic, which is their lowest emission fleet model on the road emitting just 98g/km of CO2, the Focus, Mondeo and S-MAX.

It will also emphasise the sheer breadth of choice offered to fleets by providing its van range for test, including the Transit Connect, Ranger and Transit.

Griffin said: “No matter what the economic conditions, we are there to support the industry with award-winning products that are fit for purpose.

“What is important is building the trust and reliability in our products, RVs and everything we offer the customer. You can only do that over time, which requires a long-term commitment to the industry.”

Visitors to the event, who all have fleet decision-making responsibility, can test drive cars on routes that are normally closed to the public, on purpose-built roads designed for vehicle evaluation.

They can compare a wide range of models back-to-back and discuss their views with experts from each manufacturer face-to-face.

The Greener Company Car in Action will also include a range of displays and advice areas dedicated to helping fleets lower their running costs and reduce their emissions.

Manufacturers and fleet decision-makers can obtain further details about the event from Lorraine Densham, event co-ordinator, on 01733 468859 or by email at lorraine.densham@bauermedia.co.uk
