Fleet CV: Steve Gregory, managing director, Whizzgo

Describe your role.

I lead a team of 30 staff across the UK to deliver our self-service, pay-by-the-hour car club to business and residential users.

My role is to ensure we have vehicles available when members need them and that we deliver a great customer experience.

What is your background?

I have always worked in the automotive industry, initially at Lotus Cars in Norfolk, the Marshall Group in Cambridge and as a commercial director managing press and demonstration fleets for various manufacturers at QEK. I have been at WhizzGo for 12 months.

What are you working on at the moment?

I am showing businesses how they can save money by using WhizzGo as part of their travel options.

What has been your greatest career success?

Working as part of some great teams that have delivered fantastic results in some very difficult market conditions, especially the current team at WhizzGo, who are committed to delivering benefits to our club members.

What would make your life easier at work?

Dr Who’s Tardis, as I live in Suffolk and commute to Leeds and London.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The knowledge that we are delivering a great service that has long-term benefits for members and for the environment.

How do you relax at the weekend?

Mostly I play rugby union, for Mildenhall RUFC, and coach rugby at my son’s club in Bury St. Edmunds. And yes, I am still married.
