Feedback from research undertaken by Honda with fleets has shown a marked contrast in knowledge of hybrid technology.

While some fleets already know of the benefits of hybrids in terms of lower running costs and tax, others have asked simple questions such as ‘how is the battery recharged?’.

Honda commissioned the research as part of its launch plan for the new Insight, which has just gone on sale.

Graham Avent, manager – corporate operations at Honda, said: “Some prospect customers have asked how the Insight’s battery is charged, with the misconception that it needs to be plugged in.

“But in contrast others are exceptionally forward thinking – one customer is using the Insight’s driver coaching system to challenge staff to drive more efficiently.”

Honda expects to sell around 8,000 Insights this year, with 65% of sales going to fleets.
