LDV is expected to begin production again in July once its takeover deal has been finalised, the Westar Group has announced.

Its midland’s factory has sat idle since December, but following a £5 million bridging loan from the Government to tide the light commercial vehicle manufacturer over, its new owners – the Malaysian-based Weststar Group – should finalise the purchase later next month.

The firm said it intended to maintain production at the company's plant in Birmingham, but also to expand manufacturing in Malaysia.

LDV was poised to enter administration before the Weststar deal.
