Scottish van fleets are being offered the chance to send their drivers on a Safed course, designed to make them drive safer and more efficiently.

The Scottish Government confirmed that it will fully fund the first 50 instructors and first 100 drivers to successfully complete the Safed for Vans programme.

Funded places are limited to five per fleet.

The programme enables drivers to improve their fuel efficiency by using gears better, avoiding over-revving the engine and maintaining a better distance from vehicles in front by not dabbing at the brakes, as well as better road awareness.

Van drivers and instructors interested in the scheme should register their interest with Safed at scotland@safed.org.uk or on 0870 190 6354.
