In the second of our small fleet insight series, we look at the best lower-medium models. These models are now the bedrock of fleet sales in the UK, with the Ford Focus keeping its long-held position as the best-selling car and rivals such as the Vauxhall Astra, Volkswagen Golf and Peugeot 308 maintaining their standing as top 10 fleet sellers.

And it’s easy to see why. In much the same way as supermini models have grown over the years, so have lower-medium models to the extent that they offer few compromises for drivers who need a vehicle to carry the family.

And such is the pace of development in the automatove industry that several lower-medium hatches now fall into the sub-120g/km benefit-in-kind tax band, spelling the lowest possible company car tax bills for drivers.

But these improvements haven’t come at the expense of style, quality or equipment. Drivers have never had a better or more cost-effective choice, and companies have never enjoyed such low running costs.
