Manheim Auctions has introduced a new service that provides a report to buyers on the mechanical health of vans coming to auction.

Van Check aims to give buyers greater transparency on the condition of vans, as well as building confidence and reassurance. It will enable vendors to provide a complete package for online buyers of bodywork and mechanical appraisals, combined with detailed damage imaging.

Alex Wright, sales director, commercial vehicles, said: “In a recent survey, more than 90% of buyers said they would have more confidence to make higher bids if detailed information about the bodywork and mechanical condition of vans was available.

“More than a third said they would bid only on vans that require minimal rework while just under half said that they allow a margin for unknown mechanical repairs.

“For years buyers have calculated a ‘what if’ margin into the bid price of a van. Van Check is directly aimed at those buyers and enables them to bid with confidence. While Van Check will obviously benefit buyers, especially those online, it will also be of huge significance to vendors, whose vehicles will attract stronger bids as a result.”

Van Check features a 21-point mechanical inspection completed by a qualified inspector. It also includes a 24-hour money back period for any mis-descriptions of condition.
