Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions celebrated Enviroweek by saving the equivalent of more than 10,000 plastic bags.

Employees used video conferencing, saving nearly 8,500 miles in non-essential business travel in one week, which would have generated approximately 2,038 kilos of carbon emissions, the equivalent of the production of 10,193 plastic bags.

To help staff reduce their carbon footprint and environmental impact during the week they were emailed daily tips to make small changes to their work and home life.

An alternative transport day rounded off the initiative with colleagues sharing lifts to work and people biking and walking instead of driving.

The leasing company launched Enviroweek to encourage its staff to think about being more environmentally friendly.
