The Energy Saving Trust Fleet Hero Awards, which honour Britain’s greenest fleets, will be officially launched at the Fleet News Green Summit.

Now in their fourth year, the awards recognise achievements such as reducing business mileage and addressing the grey fleet issue. This year there are separate categories for public and private sector fleets.

Simon Graham, environmental strategist at the Commercial Group – last year’s winners of the Best Small Fleet and Leadership awards – describes the Fleet Hero Awards as “as one of the most important accolades in the fleet industry”.

Fleet operators have until August 24 to enter the awards. Applications can be completed online at www.guardian.co.uk/fleetheroes2009.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to make a second, more detailed submission, with the winners announced at a ceremony in London in the autumn.
