Brooklyn Motors has gone into administration. However, Vertu Motors has bought some of the bankrupt group's dealerships, saving 160 jobs.

Grant Thornton was appointed joint administrative receivers this morning of the Brooklyn Motors dealer group, which has eight Ford, Toyota, Skoda and Mazda dealerships in southwest Birmingham, Warwickshire,
Worcestershire, Gloucester and Herefordshire.

The group employed over 300 people - 100 have lost their jobs.

Vertu Motors has acquired a substantial part of the business, comprising the Ford sites at Worcester and Redditch, and the Mazda sites at Cheltenham and Redditch.

Additionally, the Ford sites at Malvern and Kidderminster were sold in a separate deal, saving a further 50 jobs.

Robert Forrester of Vertu said that they were delighted to make the acquisition, which represented a good strategic fit with their chosen brands and territories and a development in the relationship with key manufacturer partners.

The combined deals have secured the transfer of 210 employees, limiting redundancies to 100 in the remainder of the Group.
