Employees wanting to drive their company car across the channel and into Europe for their summer holiday need to be aware of all legal requirements, according to the AA.

“Fleet managers must ensure that all drivers have the correct insurance cover, required equipment and documentation before they leave the country,” explained Roger Williams, head of fleet at services at the AA.

“The equipment required varies between countries, from first-aid kits and hi-visibility jackets to fire-extinguishers and spare glasses, as well a driving licence, insurance certificate and original vehicle registration document – or VE103 (Hired/Leased Vehicle Document) if it is a leased vehicle.

“Each country also has differing road regulations including drink-drive limits and speed limits as well road signs which motorists need to know.”
