Peugeot and Citroen have announced details of new sub-100g/km of CO2 supermini models.

The facelifted Peugeot 207 and new Citroen C3 will both be offered with a 90bhp 1.6-litre HDi diesel engine which emits 99g/km of CO2 and returns average fuel economy of 76mpg. The current 1.6 HDi engine emits 117g/km and returns 64mpg combined.

Peugeot will be the first to market, as the new engine will debut in the restyled 207 range which goes on sale in August featuring styling tweaks inside and out plus upgraded specification levels.

Citroen’s new C3 will arrive in the UK early next year and will be available with a windscreen that stretches back into the roof of the car. Other options will include Bluetooth telephony and iPod integration.
