Transport minister Geoff Hoon has become the latest cabinet minister to resign.

His resignation comes as the Prime Minister Gordon Brown struggled  to maintain his authority.

Hoon's departure marks the fifth ministerial resignation in four days.

His replacement will be Lord Adonis
