FN50 multi-marque car lease and fleet management company Alphabet has moved into the light commercial vehicle lease sector.

The company, which is owned by German carmaker BMW which does not manufacture LCVs, has some 45,000 vehicles on its books – 3,600 of which are now vans.

Just 18 months ago, the thought that Alphabet would be looking to have in excess of 7,000 vans on its books would have been met with more than just raised eyebrows.

“Now we are aggressively getting LCVs on our book,” said Paul Hollick, Alphabet general manager for sales development.

“We need to provide what our customers are looking for and we are now taking on more customers with LCVs.”

As a result of this new focus, 8% of the company’s vehicles are now vans. This predicts Hollick will grow to 15% - or over 7,000 vans – within two years.

“We cannot exclude ourselves from this market,” Hollick told Fleet News. “We would expect to have 15% vans within two years.”

The multi-marque leasing company is prepared to go further, if its customer base demands.
