The AA has bought DriveTech (UK) to strengthen its driver training proposition.

DriveTech is one of the largest fleet risk management and driver training companies in the UK.

It was bought by the AA for an undisclosed amount.

The AA has been looking to offer more fleet driver training services as the industry prepares for the publication of the Government's new road safety strategy, which will focus on lifelong learning for at-work drivers.

"We are keen on expanding our driver education and training services," said AA president, Edmund King. "We still feel much more can be done for fleets and business drivers.

"DriveTech is a leader in its field and with our resources bundled with theirs, we can strengthen our proposition in this area.

"The AA was already a significant player in the fleet training market but together with DriveTech we can strengthen our potential.

"Both companies are committed to first-class customer service and we will continue this in the fleet and driver education fields."

The AA said DriveTech's vision of 'working together to eliminate road death and serious injuries’ fits closely with its own and that of its charitable arm, the AA Charitable Trust for Road Safety and the Environment.

CEO, Andrew Strong, said: “Together the AA and DriveTech can become the leading player in promoting practical road safety in the UK.”
