Audi has announced a new low emission version of the A4 saloon. The TDIe variant uses a 136bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine first seen in the larger A6 model.

Thanks to stop-start technology, brake energy recuperation, revised aerodynamics and a lower ride height, the A4 TDIe offers claimed combined economy of 61.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 120g/km - putting it in the lowest 13% diesel benefit-in-kind tax band.

It is available as a saloon only, and in Standard and SE trim levels. Prices start at £23,340.
