Car rental giant Avis Europe is reaping the benefits of cutting the number of vehicles its offers for rental and increasing prices for its fleet customers.

According to its latest interim results for the first six months of the year, which have just been published, the rental company enjoyed a 4.7% improvement in fleet utilisation.

“Price increases were successfully implemented to many corporate customers, although pricing remained competitive as many companies seek to control travel expenditure,” it said in its interim results.

The company has reduced debt by €392 despite revenues falling by 14.1% over the period.
