Renault has followed the lead of its Alliance partner Nissan by signing a deal to provide electric cars to rental company Europcar.

The vehicles will be available to rent from certain Europcar stations in the UK in 2011 - a year ahead of Nissan's schedule which will see examples of its Leaf electric car offered from airport and city centre locations (Fleet News, June 4).

Renault will reveal more details of its new electric vehicles at next week's Frankfurt motor show, where it will display four concept cars.

The Renault-Nissan Alliance has also signed a deal to collaborate with LeasePlan on promoting electric vehicles and are developing specific contracts for fleet customers (Fleet News, April 23).
