Scottish Motor Auctions (SMA) has appointed Jim Lawrie as its new group key account director.

Lawrie, who joins SMA from Manheim, has been tasked with developing new clients, together with maintaining and developing existing clients.

SMA managing director Bob Anderson said: "Jim is highly regarded and hugely respected in the industry and joins us with a proven track record for both maintaining and developing new clients,"

Lawrie's appointment comes as SMA set out its plans for ambitious growth over the next five years, and it has also intimated it could be interested in buying BCA (Fleet News, September 10).
