The first day of the week has the greatest number of accidents involving company car drivers than any other, according to research from LeasePlan UK.

Tuesday had been the most dangerous day during 2008, but 2009 has seen Monday take up the dubious crown.

The vast majority of accidents happen between 8am and 10am, with 10% of accidents involving company car drivers hitting stationary objects. Although this figure has improved since 2005 when stationary objects were to blame for 12% of all company car accidents.

“As roads become busier and drivers are placed under more pressure at work, time is an ever important factor,” explained Graham Rixon, operations director of LeasePlan UK.

“Fleet managers need to be acutely aware of the most dangerous times that their drivers are on the road.”
