Hampshire construction company Drew Smith has acquired 26 Volvos - all powered by the 1.6-litre low emission Drive diesel engine.

The mix of C30, S40, and V50 models from Southampton dealership Kings Volvo will be used by site managers, surveyors and contracts managers, who will all gain from the reduced benefit-in-kind taxation the cars offer through their low CO2 output.

Stuart Munro, the Durley-based company’s managing director, said: “From the company’s point of view, the reduced running costs through lower fuel consumption and road tax make sense for us, too.

“With Volvo’s outstanding reputation for safety, it also helps boost our duty of care responsibilities while staff undertake business travel and their families get to benefit on private trips, too.
