BMW has launched a new programme for businesses running 50 cars or less.

The BMW and Mini Business Partnerships is aimed at “taking the hassle away” from company car ownership while offering tangible benefits.

Small fleets are assured preferential contract hire rates under the programme, which is run in conjunction with the manufacturer’s corporate finance arm.

However, small businesses should not expect cut-throat deals from the new programme.

BMW has no intentions of undercutting its lease ‘partners’ and is only interested in sustainable growth that sees it capture sales from other manufacturers not from lease companies that already provide BMW cars.

“This programme is complementary to, not competing with, lease companies,” explained Stephen Chater, BMW corporate operations manager.

“The dealers will not go in and undermine their business.”

This is not about capturing new business based on cost, but rather offering small and medium-sized businesses a package that includes competitive pricing and dealer-based expert guidance, explained Chater.

SME fleets that participate in the free programme will also get free upgrades and support from a dedicated business manager giving guidance on the motoring and tax regulations, as well as managing vehicle servicing, extended test drives and help with issues such as capital allowances, driver benefit in kind taxes and duty of care legislation.
