Specsavers Corporate Eyecare is offering a free guide to driving legislation, which covers new legislation due to be introduced by 2011.

The new rules will mean holders of commercial licences will have to have their eyes tested every five years, and holders of private licences will be tested every 10 to 15 years.

Specsavers' research shows that over three-quarters of companies are unaware of the impending legislation.

The free guide aims to help employers to understand the regulations and their implications.

Laura Butler, corporate account manager at Specsavers Corporate Eyecare, said: “The current ‘number plate’ eyesight test was devised in the 1930s.

"Since then, driving conditions have changed beyond all recognition.

"It is right that legislation should change to reflect this and it is vital that employers fully understand the regulations and their implications.”
