The preliminary results from the current Fleet News poll shows that 40% of fleets are paying more than the Government’s Advisory Fuel Rates (AFR).

AFR are set by Treasury to advise companies on the amount they should be repaying their drivers for fuel used on business travel.

However, the rates have remained unchanged despite fuel prices increasing by 12% since December.

As a result, some company drivers are complaining that they are now out of pocket when travelling in company vehicles.

Surprisingly, some 20% of respondents are currently paying their drivers less than the AFR rates.
