New members of the South Yorkshire ECO Stars fleet accreditation scheme will be recognised as part of the ‘Clearer Future Conference – Air Quality in 2012’ being held at The Mansion House, Doncaster, on Wednesday, May 30.

Fifteen new and existing local ECO Stars members will also be recognised at this annual event for having achieved the maximum five star award for clean and efficient transport operations in the last twelve months.

They include: Wincanton; Veolia Environmental Services; NFT Distribution; Dairy Crest; and United Biscuits.

All South Yorkshire ECO Star scheme members help make a positive contribution towards reducing the impact of transport on air quality in the region by implementing efficient operational practices, cleaner vehicles and eco friendly driving styles.

Ann Beddoes, chair of the ECO Stars steering group, said: “It is great to recognise the commitment from these five star vehicle fleet operators based in and serving South Yorkshire who are ‘doing their bit’ to improve air quality.

“By joining ECO Stars, all fleet operators, however large or small, will be provided with assistance towards becoming a five star operator and reducing their operational costs.”

The South Yorkshire scheme, which is co-funded by the Intelligent Energy Europe programme, includes over 40 member organisations with a combined transport fleet size of over 5000 freight, delivery and passenger transport vehicles. Membership is open to transport operators of any size.
