Lexus has shown first pictures of the new IS range, which will make its public debut at the North American International Auto Show at Detroit.
The model has a more aggressive appearance compared with the current car, while complaints about a cramped interior have also been addressed.
A thinner front seat design and a longer wheelbase improves interior space for rear seat passengers.
As with other recently introduced Lexus models, there will also be an F Sport variant with more overtly spory styling, including a unique grille design, as well as different seats.
The new IS is expected to arrive in the UK this summer, and will be offered with a petrol-electric hybrid variant for lowest CO2 emissions in the range alongside a standard petrol version.
