SageQuest, a division of Fleetmatics, has published a free e-book entitled ‘Going Beyond Track & Trace’, which helps companies with large fleets understand the capabilities of the latest value-added vehicle tracking technologies and how they can help to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

It outlines how much fleet tracking technology has evolved in the UK over the past two decades and explains that companies with fleets of 100 or more vehicles could be at risk of reducing their return on investment by continuing to use simple first generation track and trace technology.

It suggests this older technology lacks the ability to deliver intelligent insights and contribute to reducing the costs of running of a business and improving efficiency.

SageQuest’s UK managing director Peter Bingham said: “Over the last twenty years, GPS vehicle tracking technology has made huge advances and today’s GPS vehicle tracking solutions have become a true business intelligence tool, giving customers the ability to make tactical business decisions to continually improve processes and reduce fleet costs.

“However, there are still vendors that sell the first generation vehicle tracking technology and while a simple Track and Trace solution may be suitable for a smaller business, an enterprise-class customer’s needs are different and are not easily met when employing this basic technology.

“SageQuest has published the ‘Going Beyond Track & Trace’ e-book to help enterprise fleet operators discover the benefits that the latest technology can bring to their business”.
