Telematics provider Masternaut is holding a driver challenge day today in association with its partners Balfour Beatty and O2.

Sponsored by Mercedes Benz and taking place at the Donnington Park Racing Circuit, the event will bring together a select group of around 50 of the UK’s top fleet and transport decision-makers, from leading corporations including Network Rail, EDF, Romec and DHL.

The day will focus on driver safety within fleets. It will consist of a number of activities designed to inspire attendees to think about what they can be doing to improve the safety of their drivers and foster a culture of responsibility within the business.

Masternaut will head-up a telematics-based event on the day, challenging delegates to navigate a circuit of the track in the safest possible manner.

Driving Mercedes Sprinter Vans fitted with Masternaut’s telematics solutions, attendees’ driving will be assessed in real-time for speeding, harsh braking and accelerating and idling time, with scores compiled into a leader-board in order to identify the safest driver.

Other activities taking place will include ABS testing, parallel parking challenges, safety best practice sharing and an interactive discussion on road risk led by Balfour Beatty’s driver risk manager, Robert Lindsay.

The day will conclude with Masternaut and Balfour Beatty awarding one attendee the accolade of the ‘driver challenge champion’.
