Plant tracking and security specialist AMI has helped police recover stolen machinery.

On Wednesday, February 25, AMI's monitoring station received a call regarding the theft of a Bomag Roller fitted with an AMI Nexis system.

The system used GPS data to locate the machinery in a storage yard just off the M25 and AMI notified the police.

The police arrived on site and found 12 shipping containers and two buildings. The police monitored the site, but had to leave to obtain a warrant. The AMI Monitoring Station continued to monitor the unit during this time.

After the police left, the roller was moved to a new location. AMI had continued to track the machinery and advised its customer where it had been taken to, and the customer arrived at the new location before the police and caught a van loading the roller into the rear.

AMI contacted Thames Valley Police who advised they would attend site within 10 minutes and issued a crime report number. A recovery company arranged through the hirer removed the roller from site and it was was returned to the customer.
