BMW has updated the 3 Series for 2024, with a key change being a longer range for the 330e plug-in hybrid.
Thanks to a larger battery, the popular fleet model now has a zero-emission range of up to 63 miles.
It means all versions of the 330e now sit in the 8% benefit-in-kind company car tax band.
The new 19.5kWh battery can store almost double the amount of energy as the old one, yet takes up the same amount of space.
Faster charging is also possible, with support for three-phase AC charging at 11kW.
The 3 Series saloon and estate receive minor visual tweaks, following a facelift in 2022.
There's a new steering wheel and changes to the car's infotainment and instrument cluster display. The updated 3 Series is now equipped with iDrive 8.5, which has a more intuitive user interface and improved quick-access functionality.
Diesel powertrains are no longer offered, meaning the 3 Series line-up now comprises 320i, 330e and M340i. The three engine options are available on both saloon and estate bodystyles.
BMW has made adjustments to the car's chassis to improve comfort without compromising driveability.
The new BMW 3 Series Saloon is priced from £39,045 and BMW 3 Series Touring from £40,845. Both models will begin production from July 2024, with UK customer deliveries starting in the summer.
Standard specification in Sport trim includes 17-inch (plug-in-hybrid models: 18-inch) alloy wheels, M High-gloss Shadow Line, a rear-view mirror with automatic anti-dazzle function and the Parking Assistant which includes Park Distance Control (PDC) with sensors at the front and rear. Three-zone automatic climate control and BMW Live Cockpit Plus with the BMW Curved Display including BMW Maps navigation system are also fitted as standard.
The Touring model comes as standard with automatic tailgate operation and a 40:20:40 split/folding rear seat backrest, which is available as an option for the Saloon. Among the highlights on the list of individual options allowing customers to adapt the interior to their requirements and tastes are – alongside sport seats and ambient lighting – the Harman Kardon surround sound system, an electrically operated glass roof for the Saloon and a panoramic glass sunroof for the Touring model.
