The driving experience at Company Car in Action is courtesy of a custom-made vehicle test facility used by the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers – and once by filmmakers for a James Bond blockbuster.
The event at Millbrook Proving Ground in June will allow fleet decision-makers and leasing company stakeholders the chance to utilise more than 30 miles of roads and tracks with varied surfaces and technical features.
The routes are usually reserved for use by test engineers and professional drivers, but CCIA gives fleet decision-makers the rare opportunity to experience the site unaccompanied.
Millbrook’s tracks:
CITY COURSE
The three-quarter mile City Course is a purpose-built facility allowing vehicles to be tested in a simulated urban environment. You can check out driver assistance systems such as low-speed collision mitigation and automatic parking as well as manoeuvrability. The course has parking bays, bus stops, complex junctions, speed humps and varying speed limits.
ALPINE ROUTE
Familiarise yourself with vehicle braking, acceleration and handling on this challenging route which features three loops, totalling more than four miles, with gradients from 6.5% to a challenging 26%.
Here, cars can be put through their paces on a circuit that replicates the most demanding country lanes in a safe and controlled environment. It was used as a location to film scenes for James Bond film, Casino Royale.
HIGH-SPEED BOWL
UTAC Millbrook’s five-lane, two-mile, banked High Speed Bowl, is where realistic motorway driving can be simulated in a safe and secure setting.
You can test lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control and other driver aids at motorway speeds as well as comparing road and wind noise intrusion and fuel economy at cruising speeds.
OFF-ROAD
Test your driving skills and car performance on the off-road course, which offers a range of terrains to replicate almost every scenario. Fleet decision-makers have the opportunity to really test the latest 4WD models and see how they cope. The course includes sections of gravel, mud, sand and rocks plus a range of inclines to test traction, power and ride quality.
A total of 34 brands are bringing their latest and greatest cars and vans for fleet decision-makers to test to this year’s event.
They are Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, BYD, Citroen, Cupra, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Ford, Genesis, Hyundai, Jeep, Kia, Lexus, Maserati, Maxus, MG, MINI, Nissan, Omoda, Peugeot, Polestar, Renault, Seat, Skoda, Smart, Suzuki, Tesla, Toyota, Vauxhall, Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and Volvo.
Company Car in Action takes place at Millbrook Proving Ground, Bedfordshire, on 12-13 June.
Fleet decision-makers will get the first UK drives of US brand Canoo’s futuristic electric van LDV130 and Scottish electric off-road vehicle manufacturer Munro’s electric pick-up truck at this year’s Company Car in Action (CCIA).
The manufacturers are two of many confirmed for Vans in Action, which has become a key feature of CCIA and is now in its third year.
