Six in 10 (61%) drivers would choose to have their car serviced at an independent garage instead of a franchise dealer if the price was identical, a survey from Servicing Stop has found.
More than half of respondents told the online car servicing provider they would be happy to spend more for a service at their local independent garage when Britain leaves the EU as a way of supporting the local economy.
Just over one-third (39%) of motorists chose independents to save money as they would not visit their small, local garages if they charged as much as the main dealers.
Oly Richmond, CEO and founder of Servicing Stop, said: "It’s fantastic to see so many drivers remaining loyal to independent garages but it’s a massive shock to see that it’s not primarily as a result of their low pricing.
"While independent garages are known to be more reasonable, it’s not what’s keeping millions of drivers booking in."

I had to read this article twice, only to conclude this is full of rubbish! “Six in 10 (61%) drivers would choose to have their car serviced at an independent garage instead of a franchise dealer if the price was identical” Who with the right mind would pay the same for potentially less work being done? I’m not on about the main dealer stamp or even the customer service or the experience provided by main dealers. For the same money you would go to a main dealer because they have in most cases more experience on the product and the knowledge for software updates or recalls. This is like the Green argument, everyone wants to be Green but once you give them fact facts the vehicles are more expensive, most turn back to petrol or diesel.
