Hyundai has published the first images of its new compact electric crossover, the Inster, which will make its official debut later this month.

It is expected to have a range of 220 miles (355km) and will be unveiled at the Busan International Mobility Show in South Korea on June 27.

The Hyundai Inster will be pitched against the fully-electric Dacia Spring, which will have a range of up to 137 miles and will cost £14,995 on-the-road, making it the cheapest new battery electric car available in the UK.

Hyundai says its A-segment all-electric SUV will set new standards in terms of driving range, technology and safety features, “redefining” what buyers can expect from a vehicle in this class.

It will be based on the Casper SUV, which has been sold South Korean market since 2021 and will likely go on sale in Europe at the end of 2024.
