Auto Windscreens has launched a commercial vehicle glazing team, enabling the company to extend its offering to HGVs.
The mobile technicians, with specialist vans, will operate from hubs all over the UK.
Trained and certified to work at height, they are also able to glaze plant and agricultural equipment, trains, airside ground support equipment and motor homes.
As HGV windscreens are stored at more 60 sites in Auto Windscreens’ national network of fitting hubs, the team says it can immediately identify the correct screen for a vehicle thanks to its access to number of systems.
The screens need to be fitted at height, so the team have also been equipped with new, upgraded Panther Fit-Glass lifting tools, which have a wider frame to accommodate the largest glass and a wireless remote-control unit to improve overall agility.
Auto Windscreens’ technical team collaborated with Panther Tools and Planet Platforms to design the bespoke platform to use alongside the updated system.
Made from aluminium, it enables a job on a HGV, previously undertaken by up to three technicians, to be safely and efficiently completed by one.
Spencer Jones, operations director at Auto Windscreens, said: “We’re proud to launch our new team and to have been involved in the design of the platform which is opening up new markets to us.”
Jones says that Auto Windscreens has already seen an uplift in its existing HGV and commercial customer base over recent months and are in discussions with a number of well-known logistics companies.
“Now, more than ever, we all need to do as much as we can to keep HGVs moving, and we plan to do just that,” added Jones.
Shaun Atton, group fleet manager at Auto Windscreens, revealed the changes he’s implemented to improve safety and reduce risk in the business at this year's Virtual Fleet & Mobility Live.
Atton was speaking on the first day of the conference in his session, 'Running a safe fleet'. Fleet decision-makers can still watch the 24 seminar sessions and six manufacturer interviews, including Atton's, via the on-demand service.
