Seat has updated the powertrain line-up for the Leon, which includes a longer-range plug-in hybrid model.
Key for fleets, the Leon eHybrid gets a new 1.5-litre petrol engine to replace the 1.4-litre unit that was previously used. It also gains a much larger battery, now with a capacity of 19.7kWh.
As a result, zero-emission range is boosted to more than 62 miles - placing the car comfortably within the 8% benefit-in-kind tax band. The eHybrid delivers the same 204PS power output as the outgoing engine.
Along with the range improvement, the new battery also provides faster charging. AC charging can now be completed at up to 11kW, while DC fast charging (50kW) has been added for the first time.
The entry-level 1.0-litre petrol engine has been discontinued and replaced with a new 1.5-litre TSI unit that develops 115PS. CO2 emissions for this engine are 120-132g/km.
Two mild-hybrid versions, known as eTSI, are also offered in conjunction with a seven-speed automatic gearbox. These serve up 115PS and 150PS.
The changes follow updates to the Cupra Leon, which has now become a standlone model.
The Seat Leon also receives technological upgrades, with new optional matrix LED headlamps available for the first time.
Inside, the digital cockpit receives new software and there's a larger infotainment system screen with a new illuminated slider.
Pricing and final UK specifications are yet to be confirmed. The updated Leon is expected to go on sale shortly.
