The Herd Group has signed a three-year contract with Fleet Assist giving it access to its full range of service, maintenance and repair (SMR) supply chain products and services.

The deal follows an extensive review by the Herd Group of the short- and long-term SMR needs of its small and large light commercial vehicle (LCV) rental and fleet management customers.

Fleet Assist will deliver a range of bespoke services to fleet drivers via the Herd Connect platform. This includes access to Fleet Assist’s network of 5,200 garages and more than 500 mobile technicians, its phone and online service booking facility and support for its technical authorisation team.

Herd Group will also be using Fleet Assist’s Paybill service whereby all SMR bills are consolidated into a single invoice.

At the same time, it will have full access to Atlas Analytics which provides insight into its fleet and how it compares with anonymised benchmark data.

“We are very excited at announcing our partnership with Fleet Assist,” said Danielle Davison, Herd’s group commercial director.

“We have built up a reputation for providing small and large LCV fleet customers with a bespoke service that meets their individual needs, and we are confident Fleet Assist will add further value to our proposition and enable us to continue to deliver exceptional customer care.”

She explained: “During our selection process it became clear Fleet Assist provides the industry benchmark in SMR supply chain management and systems.

“Their granular capability data by garage, market leading business intelligence married with a simple agnostic approach makes them very open minded and ideally suited to servicing our SMR needs.”

Vincent St Claire, Fleet Assist’s MD, added: “We are delighted to be working with Herd and look forward to playing a part in its ongoing growth and success.

“Our customer philosophies are very similar which has meant we have experienced a good cultural fit between our businesses from day one.”
