Suzuki has revealed the e Vitara, its first mass-produced electric vehicle (EV), ahead of the car's launch in spring 2025.

Based on a new bespoke platform, the e Vitara is expected to offer a range of around 250 miles.

There will be a choice of 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs. The larger unit will be available with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system.

A rugged appearance is achieved through the use of black exterior cladding and boxy styling. On the inside, the e Vitara has a modern, uncluttered dashboard with fewer buttons and a combined central touchscreen and digital instrument cluster.

The car was co-developed by Suzuki, Toyota and Daihatsu. A Toyota-badged version of the e Vitara is also expected to launch.

As it enters a growing pool of compact electric SUVs, the e Vitara will wade into battle with the Kia EV3 and Skoda Elroq.

Suzuki hasn't confirmed pricing for the car but it is expected to start at around £30,000.
