Mabey Hire has invested £1.3 million in 13 Scania HGVs.

The construction equipment hire company said the decision to increase its delivery provisions was mostly driven by an objective to provide improved service and flexibility for customer deliveries.

Mabey Hire said it is its largest ever investment in logistics, and the new vehicles will build upon the firm's existing fleet of HGVs.

The investment in Mabey Hire’s transport division is accompanied by a recruitment push for new drivers, with a total of fourteen staff being required to man the HGVs, with 6 drivers to be taken from Mabey Hire’s existing team alongside new recruits.

Rob Walsh, national operations director at Mabey Hire, said: “The investment in our transport capability is unprecedented in Mabey Hire’s history.

"It provides an additional benefit to our logistics division through the inclusion of a trunking function – transferring equipment overnight between our depots – and it also provides our staff and the general public with a safer environment to operate in.

"I’m incredibly proud to be part of a safer, more efficient service to underpin Mabey Hire’s future.”
